Apo Reef lies around 40 kilometers (22nautical miles) west of Sablayan (Occidental Mindoro). Due to its relative remoteness only a few operators offer daytrips to Apo Reef but several liveaboards organize safaris lasting 2 to 5 days.

Snorkeling and Permit Fees

Based on the current guidelines, you can go directly to Apo Reef and secure your permits at the DENR office on Apo Island itself. The fees for snorkeling remain the same.

Sailboat Mooring or Anchorage

You can anchor your sailboat or use a mooring ball near the reef. The Sablayan Coast Guard has confirmed that this is permitted as long as you follow the proper logging-in procedures upon arrival.

Payment Options

At the moment, payment for permits is handled directly at the DENR office. It’s best to bring cash as credit card payments or online transfers are not typically accepted on the island.
